Nucleolar number variation in Fritillaria (liliaceae) taxa from Greece

نویسندگان

چکیده

The current study aims to estimate the most frequent number of nucleoli in taxonomically interesting Fritillaria species. Silver nitrate staining is applied using a modified protocol 14 taxa and one hybrid from 17 populations Greece. This first report for all studied here. In general, ranges 0-8, with pontica F. theophrasti characterised by greatest observed nucleoli. results reinforce classification intriguing taxa, such as sporadum theophrasti, distinct species, even though they have recently been considered synonyms ehrhartii pontica, respectively.

Molecular phylogenetic evidence for the monophyly of Fritillaria and Lilium (Liliaceae; Liliales) and the infrageneric classification of Fritillaria.

We present phylogenetic analyses of 37 taxa of Fritillaria (Liliaceae), 15 species of Lilium, and several outgroup taxa from Liliaceae s.s. to investigate the generic delimitation of Fritillaria in relation to Lilium as well as infrageneric relationships within Fritillaria. We used DNA sequences from the maturase-coding plastid matK gene and the trnK intron, the intron of the ribosomal protein-...

Karyomorphometric analysis of Fritillaria montana group in Greece

Fritillaria Linnaeus, 1753 (Liliaceae) is a genus of geophytes, represented in Greece by 29 taxa. Most of the Greek species are endemic to the country and/or threatened. Although their classical cytotaxonomic studies have already been presented, no karyomorphometric analysis has ever been given. In the present study, the cytological results of Fritillaria montana Hoppe ex W.D.J. Koch, 1832 grou...

Genetic Variability and Population Divergence in the Rare Fritillaria tubiformis subsp. moggridgei Rix (Liliaceae) as Revealed by RAPD Analysis

Fritillaria tubiformis subsp. moggridgei Rix. is a rare alpine geophyte with shiny yellow flowers. This plant is sporadically distributed across the southwestern Alps where it is biogeographically close to F. tubiformis var. burnatii Planch. The latter has dark purple flowers and ranges in the majority of the Western and Central Alps. In order to develop appropriate strategies of conservation, ...

Variation in floral sex allocation in Polygonatum odoratum (Liliaceae).

BACKGROUND AND AIMS It is well known that resource allocation to male and female functions can be highly variable in hermaphroditic plants. The purpose of this study was to investigate variations in sexual investment at different levels (flower, plant and population) in Polygonatum odoratum, a plant with sequentially opening flowers. METHODS Pollen and ovule production in base, middle and top...

Anatomical structure of cladodes of Ruscus L. taxa (Liliaceae) in Turkey

Microscopical properties of transverse sections from the cladodes of each taxa were illustrated and photographed. In the cross section, it was not possible to differentiated upper and lower epiderma of cladodes. In the mesophyll of cladodes palisade and spongy parenchyma are not seen. There are a few layers of parenchyma cells beneath the upper epidermis and above the lower epidermis. Cross sec...
